John Myburgh

Professor John A Myburgh AO, MBBCh, PhD, DSc, FCICM, FAHMS
Professor John A Myburgh AO, is Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at the George Institute for Global Health, University of New South Wales, Sydney and Senior Intensive Care Physician at the St George Hospital, Sydney.
He is an internationally recognised expert in catecholamine neurophysiology and pharmacology and has led the development and co-ordination of over 60 clinical trials in Intensive Care Medicine.
He has published over 350 research publications and book chapters and delivered over 400 presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
He is a Foundation Member and Past-Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group was instrumental in establishing the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, serving as the first elected President from 2010-2012.
He served on the Council of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine for six years and as Secretary-General from 2017-2019.
