Dr. Kirakli received his medical degree from Ege University, School of Medicine in 1995. He subsequently received his training in pulmonary and critical care medicine in Dr. Suat Seren Chest Diseases and Surgery Training Hospital, Izmir, Turkey. He has practiced pulmonary and critical care in the same hospital for 19 years. Currently, he is serving as the director of the ICU and the fellowship program in intensive care medicine at his hospital. His main areas of expertise are noninvasive ventilation, advanced modes of mechanical ventilation and weaning of COPD patients, ARDS, management of severe sepsis and septic shock and hemodynamic monitoring in ICU. He has also served as the chair of ICU assembly of Turkish Society of Respiratory Investigations and still a member ICU assemblies of several societies such as American Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, Turkish Thoracic Society, Society of Turkish Intensivists, European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and Turkish Society of Respiratory Investigations. Dr Kirakli is also a council member of Society of Turkish Intensivists.
