Demet Demirkol

Demet Demirkol graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. She completed her pediatric residency in 2001. She worked as a pediatric intensive care fellow and attending at the same university afterwards. Dr. Demirkol still works at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine as the Director of Pediatric Intensive Care Department. She is also the Chair of the Renal Replacement Group in the Turkish Society of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Intensive Care. Since 2022, she is serving as the Chair of ESPNIC Critical Care Nephrology Section.
Dr. Demirkol’s research interests include extracorporeal therapies, acquired HLH, cytokine storm syndromes, and support therapies in shock. Among extracorporeal therapies, she is conducting ongoing research on blood purification therapies for acquired HLH and renal replacement therapies for metabolic diseases.
