Janice Zimmerman

Dr. Janice L. Zimmerman was the first woman in the history of the World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care (WFICC) to hold the Presidential leadership role. She attended medical school and completed residency and fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care. Dr. Zimmerman is a Master of SCCM and ACP, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and was an elected Council member of SCCM from 2001 to 2013. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from SCCM in 2001 and 2013 and the Safar Global Partner Award in 2017. She has been involved in the development, revision and promotion of the Fundamental Critical Care Support course since its initiation in 1995. She has also been a member of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines Committee since its inception. She was elected as a Council member of the Panamerican and Iberic Federation of Societies of Critical Care and Intensive Care in 2003 and was subsequently re-elected in 2007 and 2011. She served as Treasurer of the organization from 2011-2016.
Dr. Zimmerman currently works as consultant for eICU services and continues to teach and lecture nationally and internationally.
