Lluis Blanch

Lluís Blanch (LB) MD, PhD, is a Critical Care Consultant at Parc Taulí University Hospital in Sabadell, Barcelona, Spain, head of the CIBER Group for Respiratory Diseases, Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona and Director of the Research and Innovation Institut Parc Taulí -I3PT. He is Coordinator of the National Spanish Hospital’s Health Platform of Innovation at the Healh Institute Carlos III of the Ministry of Science and Innovation of the Spanish Government (Madrid).

Lluis Blanch’ research interests include, among others, translational investigation of lung and brain injuries, mechanical ventilation, innovation projects related to monitoring of respiratory and hemodynamic bio-signals and advanced analytics of patient-ventilator interactions of critical patients using artificial intelligence. LB has received numerous national and international grants from public and non-profit organizations. LB has more than 250 Publications indexed in Pub Med with an H index of 47 and a Citation Index > 9500. He is inventor of a US patent owned by I3PT: “Method and system for managing related patient parameters provided by a monitoring device,” US Patent No. 12/538,940 and licensed to Better Care SL and founder of Better Care SL, spin-off of the PTUH and I3PT.

Lluís Blanch has been a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, President of the Spanish Society of Intensive Medicine and Coronary Units, President of the Catalan Critical Care Society and Council member of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine. He is a member of the editorial board of several journals and reviewer for the most prestigious journals in the fields of respiratory and critical care.
