Robert Bucki

Prof. Robert Bucki, MD, is head of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Nanobiomedical Engineering at Medical University of Bialystok. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. in physiology from the Medical University of Białystok and did postdoctoral work at the University Paris-Sud in Orsay, France and Institute for Medicine and Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. Prof. Bucki’s main scientific interests focus on the analysis of pathophysiological mechanisms of bacterial and fungal infections, the synthesis of new antibiotics effective in the treatment of drug-resistant infections, and the analysis of inflammatory processes in septic shock. His scientific output includes over 170 publications with citation count over 3500 and h-index: 40. In recent years, Prof. Bucki was the Principal Investigator of 6 scientific projects and supervisor of 4 research projects funded by National Science Center, Poland. He conducts scientific cooperation both with polish universities (including the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow, Bialystok University of Technology, Medical University of Warsaw) and abroad (University of Pennsylvania, Brigham Young University, Suracuse University, Rowan University). He is also External Reviewer as well as Review Board and Referee Panel Member for a number of funding institutions, including Canadian and Italian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Health and Medical Research Fund, Hong Kong.
